Why do I need to provide my Legal Business Name, Business Type or Business Tax ID?

Existing Inspire Customers will be able to update their registration information upon login or on the Setup Company Info page added in the Inspire by STX v2.8.4 coming October 25, 2022 and new customers will be asked to provide these details when signing up for Inspire by STX Solo, Basic, Enhanced and Advanced Packages starting October 4, 2022.

Why do you need this information?

There are laws about a business sending auto-mated text messages to people. The laws are put in place to protect people from receiving unwanted spam via text message. They are cracking down to make sure when a computer or a bot sends a text message, that it's through a reputable source. Although all of our customers are sending text messages for a good reason, unfortunately there are people out there trying to use text automation for sending spam or viruses. By providing your Legal Business Name, Business Type and Tax ID, we are registering your business as a reputable text sender to make sure your text messages go through.

New Company Fields & Login Pop Up

In October 2022 new requirements were implemented for businesses that send SMS Text Messages to their customers. The new requirements include providing the Legal Business Name and Business Type. If your Business Type is an LLC, Partnership or Corporation the Business Tax ID / EIN is also required. For additional information, click here

If your texting service has been recently disabled, the pop up at login may be disabled.  Our STX Support Team needs to be alerted if you are attempting to restore your texting service, please contact them at 1-800-766-4778, option 2 or email support@stxsoftware.com.

Legal Business Name - A company's Legal Business Name is going to be the same name associated with tax forms, paychecks and bank statements.  For example your DBA or Company Name may go by 'Curly Carly's Cuts' on social media or referral, but your Legal Business Name may be 'Curl Enterprises, LLC.'

Business Type - The business type is how you register your company with the government.  Here are the options to select from:
Sole Proprietor / Individual - A sole proprietor is someone who owns an unincorporated business by himself or herself. Often times, this is a booth renter or a studio rental.

Limited Liability Corporation - Limited liability companies (LLC) are defined as a type of business structure where owners of the LLC are called “members” and are partners in a business entity with all the protection of a corporation plus the ability to pass through any business profits and losses to their personal income tax return.

Corporation - A corporation is when prospective shareholders exchange money, property, or both, for the corporation's capital stock.

Partnership - A partnership is the relationship between two or more people to do trade or business. Each person contributes money, property, labor or skill, and shares in the profits and losses of the business.

Outside of the USA or CAN / N/A - Choose this option if you are located outside of the USA or Canada.

Business Tax ID - Input your Business Tax ID / EIN into this field and your business is located in the United States or Canada.

What if I'm a Sole Proprietor / Individual in the US and I do not have a Business Tax ID?

Our team understands that within the beauty, spa, wellness and fitness industries, that some of our customers are going to be self-employed without a Business Tax ID.  In this case, please select Sole Proprietor / Individual and do not input a Business Tax ID.  Please do not enter a personal social security number in this field.

What happens if I do not provide these details?

If you are an Inspire by STX user located inside the US or Canada, we would greatly appreciate your cooperation to continue sending SMS text messages. If the details are not provided, SMS text messages will stop being sent by our text message carrier. This change is not unique to Inspire by STX, other scheduling and point of sale softwares require the same information to be provided to send SMS text messages.

WARNING: Existing customers who have not provided their Business Tax ID, Business Type and Business Legal Name by July 1st, 2023 will have texting features disabled.  To restore texting services or discuss this request, please contact STX Support at 1-800-766-4778, option 2 or email support@stxsoftware.com
