Cash Counting: Drawers and Shifts Guide

Inspire offers the ability to create cash drawers and shift reporting, record counts mid-shift and assign cash drawers to specific devices.  

Open a Cash Drawer and Assign Cash Drawer to the Current Device

Count the starting cash for the day and assign the drawer associated with the device. 
  1. Click the Menu Icon (≡) and then click Check Out List
  2. Click the Cash Counting button
  3. Select a Drawer and Shift
  4. Click Generate
  5. Enter the quantity of bills or coins into each field. 
    1. The amount will appear in the bottom right corner.
  6. Click Open Drawer
  7. The Cash Drawer and Shift will be assigned to the device you are currently on. 

Record a Cash Drawer 

Count the cash drawer mid day or without assigning the drawer at opening. 
  1. Click the Menu Icon (≡) and then click Check Out List
  2. Click the Cash Counting button
  3. Select a Drawer and Shift.
  4. Click Generate.
  5. Enter the quantity of bills or coins into each field. 
  6. Click RECORD
  7. The values will save but the drawer will not be permanently opened or closed. 

Close a Cash Drawer

Count the closing cash for the day. 
  1. Click the Menu Icon (≡) and then click Check Out List
  2. Click the Cash Counting button
  3. Select a Drawer and Shift.
  4. Click Generate.
  5. Enter the quantity of bills or coins into each field. 
  6. The amount will appear in the bottom right corner.
  7. Click CLOSE DRAWER.
View Cash Drawer Details either by repeating the Opening or Closing steps above, viewing the Daily Cash Drawer Report in Reports > Transactions > Daily Cash Drawer Report or by viewing the Payment List Report in Reports > Transactions > Payment List Report.

Reassign a Cash Drawer 

The assigned cash drawer will reset if the browser cache is cleared, sometimes triggered by restarting your computer or closing a browser. 
To assign a Cash Drawer after it has been opened:
  1. Setup > Ticket Preferences > POS Devices
  2. Select the correct Cash Drawer & Shift
  3. Click SAVE.
