Inspire Receipt Setup & Cash Drawer (Mac OS)

Install Star TSP100 Printer Mac

  1. Click Here to download the Star TSP CUPS driver for Mac.
  2. Go to the Downloads folder.
  3. Double click on the Star_CUPS_Driver zipped file.
  4. Click on the Driver Folder
  5. Double-click on the Star_CUPS_driver.pkg to install.
  6. Agree & Continue to the traditional prompts for installation. 
  7. Once completed with install, plug in the Star TSP100  printer via USB.
  8. Go to System Preferences.
  9. Select Printers & Scanners.
  10. Choose the Star TSP100 printer as the default.

Setup Cash Drawer on Mac

Note: a receipt printer is required to open a cash drawer from a Mac computer. 
    1. Plug the cash drawer to the back of the printer on the port labeled, DK, and turn the printer on.
    2. Confirm that the printer is installed on your Mac by going to System Preferences then Printers & Scanners.
    3. Open your favorite web browser and type “localhost:631” in the address bar.

     4. When accessing the CUPS screen for the first time, the following message with appear. If this occurs, copy “cupsctl WebInterface=yes”. Otherwise, please proceed.

     

    5. Search for the Terminal application and open it.


     

    6. Paste this command and hit enter.

     

    7. Return to the browser and reload the page. The CUPS settings will not be available.

     

    8. Click on Printer.

     

    9. Click on the printer’s name under Queue Name.

     

    10. Click on the Administration dropdown menu and select Set Default Option.

     

    11. Click on Cash Drawer Control.

     

    12. Click on Cash Drawer dropdown menu, and select Cash Drawer 1.

     

    13. Click on Set Default Options.

     

    14. Type in user name and password for the administration account on the Mac and click OK.

     

    15. Back on the main page, click on the Maintenance dropdown menu and select Print Test Page.

     

    16. The cash drawer will open then print a CUPS test page.

    Congratulations, you have successfully installed the cash drawer to your Star Micronics Printer!
