Cash Discounting is a payment model that allows a business to build the cost of accepting non-cash payments into the displayed price of its products and services while offering customers a discount when they choose to pay with cash.
Instead of adding an extra fee at checkout for customers who pay by credit card, the displayed price already includes the Non-Cash Payment (NCP) amount.
When a customer pays with cash, the Non-Cash Payment amount is removed, giving the customer the cash price.
How Does Cash Discounting Work in Inspire?
When Cash Discounting is enabled, Inspire calculates a Display Price based on the item's set price and the configured Non-Cash Payment percentage.
For example:
Non-Cash Payment Percentage: 3.75%
Service Set Price: $100.00
Display Price: $103.75
The $103.75 is the price presented to the customer.
If the customer pays using a non-cash payment method, they pay the displayed price of $103.75.
If the customer pays with cash, the Non-Cash Payment amount is removed and the customer pays $100.00.
What Items Can Include the Non-Cash Payment Amount?
When configured for Cash Discounting, the displayed prices for items such as services, products, classes, memberships, and packages can include the configured Non-Cash Payment percentage.
This allows the customer-facing price to reflect the non-cash price before the payment method is selected.
